What I learned so far

As Khoobi's UX design lead here is my current key takeaways.

Start Up Culture

I get to work on constant iterations, build new ideas while staying within budget constraints. I learned to how to simplify processes into clear, straightforward flows for effective testing and validation to identify the best solutions.

Loyalty & Rewards

I get to work with dynamic flows in terms of Khoobi MVP rewards to enhance user engagement and building retention on app

Team Collorbations

I gained experience working with PMs, engineers, founders, and the sales team, fostering cross-functional collaboration.

 What is Khoobi?  

Beauty tech platform serving both B2B and B2C markets

Khoobi currently has a growing community of over 2,600 active users who are engaged with Khoobi's pilot engine and 200+ on app waitlist. For this ongoing project, I was independently responsible for building the customer mobile application from exploration and ideation to execution working with my small team

Product Ecosystem

There were multiple needs and multiple stakeholders involved in the functioning of the Khoobi. The ecosystem was designed in such a way that the products could integrate with each other in terms of how customers uses Khoobi app to find beauty and wellness. Merchants will also interact with customers with MVP rewards.

 Current Problem: Customer Side  

B2C POV: Beauty goers try dozens of treatments/salons before they find the right one...

In my user surveys and interview research, I identify pain points among beauty-goers. Many people experience a trial-and-error process when selecting nail salons, hair salons, spas, and other beauty and wellness services. They often face challenges with pricing, quality not meeting expectations, or delays in service, before finally finding a place that fits their needs.

But where do they discover these salons and spas?

This analysis helps guide my research into competitive dynamics, focusing on how users discovery process mapped out. It also informs the development of product features for Khoobi, ensuring better user experiences to discover what they want in salons and spas.

Current market of platforms does not address comprehensive insights into whether a salon with the services they provide is worth visiting, leaving users with incomplete information about the quality and value of the services provided.  

Different users and target groups

Based on the feedback and answers from the interviews, I created a few personas to explore the various goals and pain points different salon-goers in different situation have.

Khoobi's offering features and goals

As an early-stage startup, Khoobi needs to identify the right niche in its product strategy that addresses both customer frustrations and what stands out in our market research. After discussing the long-term product strategy with the founder, PM, and developers, we decided to focus on these product areas:

Discovery: Easily discover the right beauty and wellness salon, spa or studio based on price transparency and find quality salons that match your needs and preferences
Reward Loyalty: Get rewarded for everytime you get your treatment done at your favorite salon or spa. Earn enough points to unlock cashout and take $$ of their next appointment!

Information Hierarchy & User Flow

Following through 30+ user testing using cognitive walkthrough methods and usability testing, this is the current finalized user flow for Khoobi's app.

Final Product: App in test flight (beta testing) -> Official launch in 2025
